Publix Coupon Policy

The Official Publix Coupon Policy:

Publix accepts maufacturer’s coupons (limit one per item), Publix coupons (originals only-no copies), valid Internet coupons, and coupons from nearby competitors identified by each Publix store. (Competitor names are posted at each Publix store.) We will accept coupons from competing pharmacies for prescriptions only. We will not accept percent-off-items or percent-off-total-order coupons. We will only accept coupons for identical merchandise we sell. Acceptance is subject to any restrictions on the coupon, and we reserve the right to limit quantities. Manager approval is needed for individual coupons above $5.00. For a buy-one-get-one free (BOGO) offer, each item is considered a separate sale. We will accept a manufacturer’s coupon and either a Publix or a competitor coupon on the same item. Dollars-off-total-order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor coupon per order. The order total must be equal to or greater than the total purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented.

And in case any that doesn’t make sense to you, here are some things you should know:

-The biggest change to the policy that Publix will no longer accept drugstore competitor coupons.  Many stores, including mine, already had this policy, so no big surprises there.

-Another change is that coupon limits specified on coupons will now be enforced.  This will include Yellow and Green Advantage Flyer coupons.

-Competitor coupons will still be accepted, but each store’s competitors will be based on location.  A list of competitors will be posted at each store.

-Limits on how many items you purchase may be enforced.

-For each item you may use one manufacturer’s coupon and one store OR competitor’s coupon. (But not all 3.)

So there you have it!  In my opinion, having an official coupon policy is a good thing, and this one is still pretty good and more than fair.  If you were one of the lucky ones allowed to use drugstore coupons, don’t worry you will still save plenty of money shopping at Publix!

Here are the general guidelines to follow:

Publix Stores in Florida (and some coastal Georgia stores):

-Do not double coupons

-Require that you buy 2 items to get the BOGO price

-Allow competitor’s coupons (Competitors allowed are at the discretion of the Store Manager.)

-Allow you to stack manufacturer’s coupons with store/competitor coupons.

-Manager approval is required for coupons totaling over $50

-Expired coupons are NOT accepted.

-Printable coupons are accepted.  Printable coupons for a FREE item are not accepted if the value of the item is over $5.00.

Publix Stores in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, & South Carolina:

-Double coupons up to $0.50

-BOGO items will ring up at 1/2 price (you only have to buy one to get the sale price.)

Hey Ruth,
My Publix store manager told me that the coupon policy is changing THIS Monday! Any hints on what we will be looking at? She said that she didn’t even know!

I’ve also heard that the Publix coupon policy will be changing this month. My brother works at Publix and he’s heard that the change will take effect May 16th. No details yet, but rumor has it that they might stop accepting competitor coupons.

In regards to Publix store coupons (like the ones found in the Green & Yellow Advantage flyers), what is your interpretation of the fine print, “Limit one deal per coupon per customer?” Originally I thought this meant I could only use one coupon on the entire transaction, even if I purchased two of the same item (thus, the “per customer” part). However, I have heard conflicting views on this topic. Some argue that the Publix coupons are like any other standard MQ, allowing you to use one coupon per purchase/item (2 Q’s for 2 items). The verbiage is confusing so I’m just trying to clear it up to avoid any blunders during checkout, especially once the new policy goes into effect. I’m sure all the cashiers/CS managers are going to be super strict in the beginning, which I can understand, but at the same time I don’t want to keep missing out on extra savings if I can use more than one of the store coupons per transaction. I’d appreciate any expertise you can share on the matter. Thanks!

Great! I hope all stores will follow the same policy! I’ve heard others say that their Publix cashiers/managers have given them a hard time about this – hopefully corporate will clarify or reword the verbiage in the future. Thanks for your reply!

Hello…. when u say “Double coupons up to $0.50″
Does this means that any coupon of $0.50 or more will double? Ex… $0.50 will go up to $1? $0.40 will go up to $0.80 and so on?

Yes, it means any coupon with a value of $0.50 or less will be doubled. ($0.50 will be $1.00, $0.40 will be $0.80, etc.)

Quick question at public. Do I need to have as many items as I have coupons??? Ex: thus week they have the pedigree dentastix BOGO. If I’m getting two, and using a MQ and publix coupon on each, do I need to have them 4 items???
