Are you brand new to coupons?

Curious to find out what all this Extreme Couponing stuff is about?

Ready to save some serious money on your grocery bill?

Saving Well, Spending Less is all about helping you match store specials with coupons in order to save 50-90% on your grocery and drugstore bills.  But in order to be able to use these printable lists effectively, you need to understand the basic concept behind extreme couponing.

What is Extreme Couponing?

Extreme couponing is basically just a style of shopping with coupons where you match up the weekly store specials with coupons in order to always buy items at their rock bottom prices.  Instead of making a list and buying what you need for a certain week, an Extreme Couponer primarily buys just what is on sale, buying enough of each item to create a stockpile that will last until that item goes on sale again.

How do I get started?

The process of learning how to use coupons can be a little overwhelming at first.  If you are brand new, I highly recommend that you check out the 8-week Beginner’s Guide to Coupons series that I wrote for my sister blog, Living Well, Spending Less.  It breaks the whole process down in to manageable and easy-to-follow baby steps complete with assignments to get you going each week.  By the end of the series, you will be a coupon pro!

How do I use these printable lists?

To use the printable lists, just select the current week for the store you would like to shop at, click on the items that you would like to purchase, and press the “print” button on the “My List” tab.  It’s that simple.  Each list has a “This Week’s Hot List” section at the beginning that highlights all the hot deals, freebies, & moneymakers for that store, making it very easy to see which items you should be sure to include on your list and add to your stockpile.

What if you don’t cover one of the stores that I shop at?

My goal for this site is to include a comprehensive national selection of grocery stores.  That said, I am just one person and cannot possibly do match-ups for every grocery store in the country.  If you have a specific request, please let me know!  If I get enough requests for a particular store, I will add it to the site.  In the meantime, hopefully you will be able to benefit from some of the national store and drugstore matchups included here at SWSL.

How do I use that coupon database?

While the goal of Extreme Couponing is to always buy items at their rock bottom price, there will probably be times when you need to buy something that is not listed in a weekly ad anywhere.  That is where the coupon database comes in!  Just do a quick search for the item that you need and all the coupons that are currently available for that item will pop up.  This is also a very handy tool to use to do your own matchups with a weekly ad for stores that are not (yet) covered by SWSL.

I like the way you break the process of using coupons into easy steps. And your results are impressive. Even though I’m in a different part of the country, some of the sales you list are helpful. I’ll be visiting your site often!

Hi. I really appreciate your website. Unfortunately, none of the stores in my area doubles:(. Do you happen to know of any sales/deals at Ultra and Strack and Van Til in Indiana? Thanks

I started studying your website (the easiest to follow by far!) and had my first shopping trip today with coupons in tow…saved 42%! Not bad considering I still spent $ on impulse purchases that I really did not need and did not have coupons for…old habits die hard! Can’t wait to continue to learn and improve! THANKS!

I live in Oklahoma too and Homeland is one of the few places that double coupons. They have a great website with lots of store and manf. coupons. It would be great if you could add them. Thanks for all the great information :)

Hi Ruth! Thanks for a great site that breaks it down just how easy it is to use coupons and save money but not be overwhelmed in the process. Your site is one of the best that I have found, and I am trying to find a site or blogger in Arizona that can get me good match-ups. No luck yet…I am really looking to add Fry’s and Albertsons to your lists. Can you think of a way I can get them?

I too agree with adding Price Chopper to the list and also ShopRite. I’m in CT and these seem to be the best places to shop lately…….today is my 1st day on your site, it’s easy enough but overwhelming also….

Ruth, I’m young but helping my mom because she does not have to much time for this extreme couponing, nor do we have to much space for a stockpile… my real question is… if you don’t have a big enough space for a stockpile, what do you do? Thanks for all the help! I’ve been watching your videos on YouTube weekly! Your awesome. I hope you continue helping me and a lot of other people start this extreme couponing experience.

Do you have any match ups for Schnucks? Where do you think the best store for “extreme couponing” is? Where I live all we have is Walmart, Kroger, Target, Schnucks, Walgreens and Dollar General. I just did my 1st coup[on experience yesterday at Walmart and got $24.33 worth for $10.33. I was very excited about that. I have 6 kids so every penny I can save is a blessing! You have been such an inspiration and a big help. Thankyou

At this time we don’t do Schnucks matchups so I’m not familiar with their coupon policies. However, Walmart Kroger, Target, Walgreens, and Dollar General are all GREAT stores for couponing & even if you stuck to just those stores, you would do great. My advice is to start with just one or two of the stores that we cover & work on learning the basics and getting more comfortable. Once you “get” it, you can start doing your own matchups for Schnucks by checking out their ad & using the SWSL coupon database to find corresponding coupons. It is a lot more work that way, but if the deals are there it might be worth the extra effort, or you might find you don’t need to bother.

I have been couponing for about a month and my stockpile is starting to grow. I live in Mn. Outside a small town the stores I shop at is Coborns ( please add), Walmart, Target, Cub, and Walgreens. Need some advice on how to save on food in a small town. I am trying to have a food budget of $50.00 a week. Most weeks I can do it if Coborns has a good sale. Thinking I might have to up the food budget.

I live in AZ and would love to see Fry’s Marketplace added to the list. This is the store we most frequently shop at. Thank you for all your wonderful info.
