Hello I don’t know if I am posting in the right section, but I have a question. I am new to clipping coupons; in fact I started this past Feb. I still have a lot of questions but do not know who to ask about rules of redeeming coupons. My first question let say I have a $1.00 of three poptarts. I purchase the three poptarts do I only submit one coupon if I have like 6 coupons or could I submit three? My second question, if I have a coupon to buy one shampoo and get one free again could I submit two coupons and get both shampoos for free? You answer would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,
Amanda

Hi Amanda-
If you have a $1 off 3 coupons then you can only use one coupon per 3 items. If you have a B1G1 coupon you can use that with one $/1 coupon. The $/1 coupon is applied towards the first item, and the B1G1 coupon makes the second item free. You can not use 2 B1G1 coupons on 2 items, at least not at any store that I know of. I hope that helps!

If the coupon is for one poptart and you have 3 boxes and you have 6 coupons you would only give three if the coupon is for one box.

I’m sure you get lots of questions but I had one since I’m new to all this and I’ve been doing lots or research on coupons. Walgreens has a sale on razors of B1G1 50% off and I have a coupon for B1G1 free. Since it’s a store special and a manufacter coupon can those be used together?

Reply

Ruth April 21, 2011 at 6:25 pm

Yes they can. You will end up getting 2 for the cost of half of one, or saving 75%.

yes as long it does not say not refundable at what every store then you can .

Hello I am very new to couponing. I just finished my drugstore run and am not to sure if I got a good percentage off. My total order was $130 dollars and I paid $52 only saving $78. I know this will be baby steps but was this a good first run?

I sure think so!! Especially for a first go of it…..you saved 60%!!! Good for you. Hang in there…it will get even better. I’ve learned to be patient this last year, my first year of couponing “correctly.” I’ve been disappointed several times, but chalked it up to learning & research. LOL Tomorrow is my couponing anniversary…..the first set of inserts that I worked with. Yea!!!! About 1/2 way through this first year, I met a fellow couponer who has been at it for 3 years. She gave me hope when she told me that it takes time & patience to get a system for yourself. I’m hangin’ on to that….it’s worth it!!! Kudos to you for a good first trip!

JUST started, well starting, tomorrow with my first Sunday papers. I have enjoyed the wealth of knowledge all over the internet about couponing. But I have to say this site is my favorite. It is clean, easy to navigate, and helpful. I am on “week 2″ of your lesson plan and while I had read the same concepts on other sites, it is just now ‘clicking’ in the way you worded it. So thank you. I know feel better and know that I can’t rush and hope for a miracle up front. I know all to well what it is like to scrape and use anything possible to make dinner in my house when I can’t afford to grocery shop very often. So I am excited to take this step and learn from you and others. Plus I am a 27 year old guy and I know that is not the typical coupon stereotype, but oh well!

My walgreens will not take the $4.00 off coupon for the freshmatics because the coupon is for more than the item $3.99. Has anyone else had this problem if not how did you get around it? Thanks.

Reply

Ruth April 21, 2011 at 6:19 pm

Many Walgreens registers will not accept a coupon that is over the amount of the item. The official Walgreens coupon policy states that the cashier should change the value of the coupon, but I have not found a single manager or cashier at Walgreens who knows how to do this. In this case, the easiest fix would be for the manager to change the price of the item to $4.00 instead of $3.99 so that the coupon will work. This is what they have done for me in the past.

Reply

Angela May 18, 2011 at 3:43 pm

At my store, instead of price modifying the price of the item (which I would get in trouble for), we would price modify the coupon.

Reply

Christel June 6, 2011 at 3:58 pm

I ran in to the same thing a Dollar General they wouldn’t take a coupon so I have Walmart comp the price so you get the value of the coupon pennies add up.

ok I have a question. If an item is regular $1 and a coupon is .75Cents off when you buy three can you use a coupon on each itemof the dollar items to make the final price .75 cents?

Reply

Ruth April 21, 2011 at 6:21 pm

If the coupon is for $1 off 3, you can only use 1 coupon per 3 items. It would take $0.25 off each one so that the final price would be $2.25 for all three, or $0.75 each. Hope that helps!

Hi, I don’t understand how bogo works? And how with the manufactures coupon plus the bogo makes the item free?

Reply

Alisha June 7, 2011 at 4:37 pm

A BOGO store promotion is paid for by the store (essentially a store “coupon”, if it’s esaier to think of it that way). So if you are buying 2, you are only paying for 1 (b/c of the BOGO promo), but you can still use 2 MQs (b/c you are technically “buying” 2). So if an item is on sale for BOGO @ $2 and you have (2) $1/1 MQs, it would make both items free. Does that make sense?

First and foremost, I am so grateful to have stumble through your website. It is a relief to know that it is possible to shop with children and savings can happen even when you are a busy mom. You have shared some really great tips on couponing.

I have gone out two times using coupons for the first time. Questions I have are as follow:
1) How many coupons can I print of a specific item? (2,3, 4 etc)
2) When using the coupon database, if I print a coupon from SmartSource for Post Cereal can I print the same coupon from another database?

I guess that is all for now. I definitely will utilize your coupon matchup for my next shopping trip and will update you!

Naly,

I too love this site, it is by far the best I have found so far and she’s soooooooo helpful! I have noticed with printing from various sources it really depends, mostly I am allowed to print 2x for a coupon. Occasionally hitting the back button would allow me to print more but not always. :( As I stated the other day I did a big shopping trip to target for groceries and saved $51 and that was with my 2 year old! For me that was good not everything I bought had coupons, but they have pretty good prices and I need groceries! I don’t have BOGO grocery deal stores around me, and when they do they jack the price up so high you don’t want to buy it! (Like oreos BOGO Jewel prices t hem at 5.99 – so not worth it!) So it really depends on the coupon and the site. Doesn’t hurt to try! It will also give you an error if they run out of prints, ‘ve have that happen recently on trying to get cat litter ones. I have 2 computers so i try to print from both but I run vista on my laptop and can’t print smartsource from there. So I have to use my desktop for that, which then limits me.

Good luck!

Hello, I want to thank you again for all your help but I am a little confused I have an example of my confusion: On your match ups for Walgreens for the Goya Rice Mix $1.79 you only mention a coupon for $0.55/1 Goya Rice Mix printable and the Final Price is $.69. I do not understand how I was thinking it would be $1.24. Please help this beginner out! Thanks in advance. Another question how to pull up the previous questions and answers because I can never find mine.

I have a question, if you have a B1G1 Free coupon and another manufacture coupon for the same product can they be used together on the 2 items being purchased?

for example

Walgreens has Efferent cleaner on sale for $3.99 each, then you get back $1 in rewards.

I have both a B1G1 Free coupon and a $3 off coupon, could I use both on 2 boxes and get them both for $0.99 plus the $1 in rewards making it a money maker?

Hi Ruth,
I love your site, and your videos. I’m a local central Florida & resident & a mom of 2 (a toddler & an infant). Most of the sites and good deals I see on other sites are stores we don’t have. But your site really allowed me to understand Publix, which is where I shop. I didn’t like shopping there until I started couponing (3 weeks ago) & watching ur videos gave me hope that it is possible to do this with 2 kids. I’ve been taking baby steps, but think i’m ready for a big shopping trip. so far my list is calculating out to be $140, for which I hope to pay only $23+tax. Tommorrow’s the big day & I’m super excited for my 85% savings.. wish me luck!

Walmart does price matching and only accepts coupons from competitors that have a price on them, but yes, they will do price matching for CVS & Walgreens too.

I watch your videos every time one is posted on youtube and one thing i cant seem to put together, is how you determine/plan which items you can buy and have coupons for that will make you money towards your purchase. For example, the last video when you bought a few boxes of Gas-x. I would have never thought to have bought that item or that i could have made money on it. Please let me in on the secret. ;)

Ok, there is a razor on sale this week at Walgreens, price is $9.89…I have a RR for $2.00 and a manufacturers I clipped for $4.00. My question, should I have been allowed to use both, because the man said no either or but not both. I was purchasing only the one item. Thank you in advance for your help. By the way I am in Texas and am wondering if you know of any coupon groups around the North Dallas area, I sure could use the help!!!

Reply

Angela May 18, 2011 at 3:52 pm

hi rebecca. You can only use one manufacturers coupon per item you purchase. So if you wanted to use both the RR and the manufacturers coupon, you would have to have 2 items that you’re purchasing. That’s where the “fillers” come in that Ruth talks about. Look for an inexpensive item to but like a candy bar or something small. that way, you’ll have 2 items, and can use 2 coupons.

I don’t know if im explaining this right im just planning my first trip and I really don’t want to look like a idiot if anyone bots advice I sure appreciate it. Thanks!! :)

Reply

Ruth May 17, 2011 at 8:52 am

Most coupons state “one per purchase,” which actually just means “one per item.” If there is a limit of 4 like coupons stated (P&G coupons often have this), then you can only use 4 at a time. “1 per transaction” means you can only use 1 of those coupons at a time. Hope that helps!

Hi Theresa-Yes, most of the coupons found in this database are manufacturer’s coupons, which are generally accepted nationwide. If there is a coupon specific to one store only, it will be indicated under the “store” category.

Hi I was wondering to get this answered as soon as possible. I think I have everything figured out except one. The P&G coupons! They really have me in for a loop. I see that you have a Limit one coupon per purchase of products and quantities stated. Then it goes to say Limit of 4 like coupons in the same shopping trip. So for example am I able to buy one of the Always product for $1 off and also use another from the newspaper for an additional .75 cents off? Or is it only apply to one Always brand item for each coupon? The 4 like is also throwing me off to only 4 P&G coupons on the transaction or 4 coupons that are the same for the individual product I want? I don’t get on here much if I can’t get this answer could you e-mail it to me but I will check in tomorrow and a few days after to see if there is a response. Thanks hope you understand my questions.

I found a great deal tonight though in Publix in their “BIG Father’s Day” savings booklet they have a $2.00 off 20 ct Bayer Adv Strength and I had an on-line $1.75 off and the 20 count was only $2.99…. so .76cents overage which they allowed.

I’ve been trying this couponing thing and it’s been fun, but I don’t have alot of stores to choose from where i live. We have Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, Schnucks and Kroger. I want to be able to have a coupon experience like I see on TLC and I am willing to drive to another town for it. What do you think is the best store for couponing?

Reply

amanda June 14, 2011 at 12:46 pm

Hi I am new to the whole coupon world! Of course I saw the extreme couponing show on TLC and thought it was awesome that you could go grocery shopping for barely anything since I am spending around $500 a month on groceries. I don’t really want to extreme shop like they do on tv because lets be real that is a little too extreme, but I would love to save like half of my grocery bill a month. I have questions about understanding some of the coupon wording. When a coupon says only 1 coupon per purchase I know that means 1 coupon per item, but if it is a manufacturer coupon can you also use a store coupon on it?

Also, I am having problems finding some of the coupons you have listed on here. If you do not have a link attached I don’t always know where to look for it or if you do have a link attached it will take me to the site, but I can not find the coupon you are speaking of. For example on Sunday you suggested using (2) Target MQs, (2) $2/1 MQs, and B2G1 MQ. I could not find the B2G1 MQ, the only MQ coupons I found were $1/1 nivea body wash for women and $2/1 nivea body lotion, and the only target MQ I found were $3/1 Nivea skin care item (which was only for good bye cellulite, my silhouette, sunkissed, or firming) and $1/1 Nivea Body lotion. So none of those matched up with what you were saying.

Then today I saw your arm and hammer coupon $1/2 liquid detergents, but when I clicked on the link the coupons that were shown were not for liquid detergent. I was thinking maybe because you have a different zipcode then I do?

I don’t know if I am just looking at all of this wrong, but it seems like couponing is a lot of hard work and I am not sure if it is really going to be worth it?! Maybe if you can clear some things up for me I won’t be so confused and discouraged.

Thanks for any hellp you give me!

Hi Amanda,
If you haven’t already, be sure to check out Ruth’s “Newbie Start Here” link!
http://www.savingwellspendingless.com/newbie-start-here/

To answer your questions…
Most stores will allow you to stack a Manufacturer’s Coupon w/ a store coupon.

As far as the coupons you see listed on our matchup lists, we include ALL current coupons that match with the sale item – many are not printable, but from various other sources (Sunday newspaper inserts, peelies from products, tearpads at stores). When you see “SS 6/05/11″ or “RP 6/12/11″, that is telling you that the coupon is from the Smart Source or Red Plum insert, followed by the date of the Sunday paper it can be found in. I know sometimes it means A LOT of coupons are listed, but we want to make sure you have options for which coupon to use.

The links for printable coupons, unfortunately, can expire at any time. Often there are print limits and once that limit has been reached, the coupon is no longer available. However, we still include it in the matchups for those people who do have the coupon. The Nivea coupon you mentioned was still available on Saturday when I made the list, but is no longer there (as you know). Another example of how they can “disappear” at any time. Sorry about that.

Couponing does take time and can definitely get frustrating. But don’t be discouraged if you don’t immediately save 60% (or even 50%)…start small, like Ruth suggests, and eventually it will get easier and make more sense along the way. Believe me, I still get discouraged. But then I spend $2.57 OOP on a pack of Huggies Diapers, 2 Schick Razors and a bunch of other drugstore necessities, and I remember why I take the time to do this. : )

Good luck!

I came across your website today and it was a dream come true!! I have always wanted to use coupons to help pay for the grocery bills for a family of 4 but it always seemed like to much of a hassel, but know I am looking forward to it. I have one question, on most of the coupon matchup websites I understand the total price (since it mentions it at the end) however on the foodlion website I am confused. An example is “Gain Laundry Detergent (50 oz liquid or 31-40 load powder) *** – $3.99″ Is the $3.99 the final cost after using the appropriae coupon or before? Thanks again.

Reply

Alisha June 19, 2011 at 3:20 am

Hi Kim,
The Food Lion list is done by another blogger, so her phrasing is a little different than the lists done by Ruth and the SWSL team, but it looks like $3.99 is the price before the $1/1 coupon and the “Big Deal” Promotion. She has the final price being “As low as $2.49.” I hope that helps!

I don’t know but when i try to go to the CVS matchups to print my list it does not have the tabs where you can click and add the items your list.

Hi Amber,
You are the second person to report this problem… I can see and use the little boxe/tabs for the printable list when I’m using Firefox as my browser, but when I switched to Internet Explorer, I don’t see them anymore. I’m not sure if Firefox is an option for you, but you could try switching for now. I will be sure to report this problem and hopefully it can get resolved. Thank you!

Hello,
I am just starting out and really excited!! However when I came to your match-up site I realized you don’t have any of our local stores listed. The stores that are closes to me are Price Chopper, Hy-vee and Hen House. Please let me know if you are going to soon include any of these stores or where I might find another website that can help. Thank you Erin in Kansas :)

Also, i noticed that cvs and walgreens coupnon have limits of how many of something you can buy…. however, the manufacturs coupons dont… my second question is if i go to a winn dixie or publix and i have 10 coupons of each item can i get ten or is there a limit? thanks sascha

Hey Ruth! I have a quick question for you.
Can you add the following stores to your website here?
-Target
-Shopko
-Woodmans
It would make it easier to get started with my mom on extreme couponing if we could see coupon match-ups with those 3 stores on your website here. We are new to this and have different stores that we shop at from yours. We live in Wisconsin if that helps at all with store locations or anything. If you do add these 3 stores to your website, me and my mom will be very appreciative!!!

Hi Amanda,
Just wanted to let you know that Target is already on here! At the top, there is a “Coupon Matchups” tab…it’s under “National Stores” on the drop-down menu (or just click on “Target” listed on the footer at the bottom of this page)! I hope that helps for now!

I dont know if anybody else participates in the my coke rewards promo, but you can order magazines that have coupons in them (Better Homes and Gardens, Family Circle Good Housekeeping) for a few points that you have accumulated. I have been entering codes for a couple of years now and have gotten a lot of nice stuff for free.

I have a question I am wondering if a coupon says 1 coupon per purchase does that mean I can only use 1 coupon on this item but if I have 5 coupons for that item I can buy 5 items and use a coupon for each or does that mean 1 item per shopping trip basically.

If so, are there any other inserts coming? I am happy to see that if it is so. I get coupon withdrawal when there aren’t any! Thanks and great site!

Hi there..
I have a few questions about this up coming Publix list. (I’m in the Lee County Area so I think our deals/prices are identical)

1. You have Gatorade listed as Gatorade G or G2 Thirst Quencher, 64oz bottle. The coupon from the shopping spree coupon sheet stipulates any (1) Gatorade or G2 20oz 12 pack item or any Gatorade G or G2 12oz 18 pack item. How does this apply?

2. This does not apply to a sale but I have a question about how the coupons would work in this situation.. I have the following coupons,
a. Buy any (1) Dove Body wash and get $3.75 off (1) Dove Men+Care Body Wash (any size, manufacturer)
b. BOGO Dove Men+Care Body Wash (13.5oz or larger, manufacturer)
c. Save $1.00 off any Dove Body Wash (10oz or larger, manufacturer)

Can any of these be used together? Last time I tried, Publix told me that the one BOGO coupon spoke for BOTH items purchased as the manufacturer coupon.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated and I can’t say thank you enough for taking all of the hard work out of this so we can all save some major moo-lah :)

FYI, I have had issues at Publix lately, we have some heavy couponing in our neighborhood so, the flyers that have the coupons I’m told are gone in a day. After asking at customer service I was told oh yes we have some behind the desk, but you can only have 2 per person. Raincheck policy seems to be like a box of chocolates , you never know what your gonna get: one Publix store says how many do you want up to ten, I go to use the raincheck and they only have 6 items they don’t want to rewrite raincheck for the balance. So I think what I am going to do in the future is ask for individual rain checks for each item. Unfortunately, the person writing will get a hand cramp.

Also, my husband has been going in and making some purchases with much more ease than I have had. Yes people they are coupon profiling. We have discovered that he walks in with coupons in his pocket pulls them out at the cash register no issues on quantities. If they see me with my coupon stuff out they start putting limits on quantities.

Just a FYI, I am a newbie to the couponing and it has really benefitted our family and extended family. I am able to ship stuff to my college students and offer to our kids friends here locally to come over and just get whatever they need. We are trying to help everyone out in this economy and not hoarding as I have heard comments about couponers.

I cant understand why the stores are complaining, we are actually stimulating the economy with all of these purchases. The stores turn the coupons in and get the $$ back from manufacturers, so why are trying to treat us like second hand citizens. Is this the way they treat people that pay by public assistance?

Ok, off my soap box!!
Have a great coupon deal filled day!

Hello,
Thank you for all of the information you put on your websites Ruth. I’m addicted to the sites and your youtube videos too. I’m fairly new to couponing but am loving it! My 6 year old daughter told me “saving money is fun mom” and it is. I just have a question on a B2G1 free deal for Nivea Skin Care. I also have a B2G1 free coupon and I was just wondering how this would work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is a look at how I did last week on my first real “coupon” shopping trip. I’m really optimistic about this.
Date Store Amt Paid Amt Saved Savings %
6/23/2011 Rite Aid $19.11 $49.75 72%
6/24/2011 Michael’s Arts and Crafts $3.86 $0.54 12%
6/24/2011 Walgreens $8.83 $17.28 66%
6/24/2011 Wal-Mart $69.41 $7.35 10%
6/24/2011 Target $25.51 $1.93 >1%
6/24/2011 Safeway $25.66 $27.71 52%
6/24/2011 Winco Foods $63.97 $1.50 >1%

I, too, am new to couponing “correctly” though I used my mother’s old style forever. Saving money – about 45%/wk before I found this site. Question: neither my computer printer nor my library’s will let me print coupons, generally speaking, especially if I have to install the system. This is so frustrating I’m ready to give up! (well, not yet, but it’s bad!) This is probably a computer and not a couponing question. Has anyone you know of had a similar difficulty?
BTW: last shopping, I had over $425 in product and paid about $120. Not bad for my third week of correct couponing.

Well, I just wanted to share my Walgreen’s experience from today. About an hour ago I went to walgreens for my first big coupon trip. I bought one thing there last week and wanted to use my rr for the great things on sale this week. I was planning on doing two transactions. The first one on the items that gave rr, and the second one on items that I didn’t have coupons for and that didn’t give rr. I wanted to use my rr on things that I didn’t have coupons for to maximize savings and lower oop cost. As I was finishing up my first transaction, the store manager came up to me and said that I couldn’t do another transaction. He said that I had to leave and come back tomorrow.
I thought that that was not only absurd but rude, because he didn’t even tell me hello or thanks for shopping at Walgreen’s. He just told me that I couldn’t buy any more stuff at his store. I thought the first rule of retail was to never turn down a customer. I basically had to beg him to let me spend $30 in his store. Ridiculous. Needless to say, I will not be shopping at walgreens any more. I wanted to pass along the info that I got out of that horrible experience. Walgreens is in the process of changing their coupon policy. They will no longer allow rr to be used to get rr. Aka, no multiple transactions. Even though I wasn’t breaking the new rule that hasn’t even come out yet, I got fussed at by a store manager! You can still get all your rewards on one transaction and use the rewards on a second transaction to buy things that don’t give rr. I hope no one else has to find this out like I did.

Same bad experience at my store in GA; in fact I have noticed more stores (Publix included) have gotten rude to customers using coupons. I don’t understand that because you are spending money in their store and you are their customer. Hang in there!

I always go in there smiling and try to be very friendly, so I don’t know what else I can do. It is always great when you find a cashier that is a fellow couponer! That makes it much easier!

Is this worth the buy kroger has smart butter for $2.29 minus $.50 with Kroger plus card. $1/2 Manufactor coupon? My Target in Augusta GA allows me to stack STORE coupon with MQ coupons. So yes at target you can save more with sales. Publix’s also allows stacking of store coupons and MQ coupons and doubles up to .50 cents. Kroger doubles up to .50 cents; however my store doesn’t allow stacking of coupons (1 Store and 1 MQ coupon). Bi-Lo doubles up to .60 cents and does allow some stacking but depends on the store. I have had alot of success at Target and Publix with my coupons more than my Kroger or BI-lo stores. However, just depends on the sales that week and what type of coupons you have.

Can I use all 3 of these coupons for the same 2 packs of diapers and receive a total of 8 dollars off of 2 packs of diapers?

Because some stores you don’t have to buy both items to get the BOGO price (1/2 price); will the BOGO coupon only be entered at the 1/2 price or the total price making both items free. THANKS in advance for anyone that can help me understand the BOGO offers better. I have only been couponing for about 4 months and I am still trying to figure everything out. I have noticed stores are getting more strict with their coupon policy.

Can someone explain to me how the RR work at Walgreens? The scenarios on here that include the RR has the amount of the RR subtracted out so it looks like your out of pocket is less but instead I found out I had to pay more out of pocket than expected bc I included the RR in my transaction, but can’t use it until the next transaction.
I used the “Get 2 RR when you buy (2) select Johnson Baby Care products $3.00″
I used 2 of the $1/1 Johnson baby wash or lotion coupons.
I ended up paying $3.35 out of pocket, expecting to pay $1. I also used separate transactions for 2 other products bc of the RR deal on one of the other products.
Does any of that make sense? Is this the same way it works for Target with their gift cards that you can get with some sales? Any good tips on how to use the RR and Target Gift cards?
I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

I have a coupon that your buy A Febreze Fabric Freshner and get a Febreze Air Effects for free my question is can you use a 0.50 off coupon for the Febreze Air Effects to lower the down cost or does it have to be for the Febreze Fabric since your getting the Febreze Air Effects for Free? My question is because your getting the item already subtracted. Im asking b/c Walmart is having this sale. For 2.66 each so with the BOGO – 0.50 for the Febreze Air Effects it would make each item 1.08.. From the coupons of 7/3.. HELP Please.. Thank you.

Walgreen’s RR print out at register like the Catalina coupons… make sure the cashier gives them to you. They are to be used on the next purchase. I have done separate transactions and used them but you just can’t use them on the same item in which you received them on.

I went to a CVS yesterday (not the one I usually go to cuz the supervisor didn’t show up for work and the cashier was alone so she couldn’t open the store.) to do the Schick razor $20 get $10 ecb. This is the first one that would not take a b1g1 Q with a cents off Q and a cvs Q. I took out the coupon policy but it did NOT state that they take an additional cents off with a b1g1. It does state that you can use one coupon per item but that was all the mgr. focused on and even said he didn’t think I could use the cvs Q with the other. I thanked him for his time and declined the trans. and left. (Was disappointed because this was a moneymaker! Will try a diff. store today.) Do you know how to get more info on their policy? My question is that if a coupon says available in 90210 and if I don’t live anywhere in that area, can I still print it off and use it? Thank you!

Walgreen Ad Match question: On Walgreen ad says item is ” $9.89 – 9.00RR=its like paying $.89 “.. The question is, if I go to Walmart and price match the item, will I be price matching for the item for $.89 and get it at $.89 + tax? I’m new couponer since Feb and would like more understanding.

Thank you

As far as I know, Walmart (and Target, etc), will only honor sale prices, not prices after Rewards, Rebates, BOGO or other discounts/promotions that are specific to the store you are price-matching from. So no, I do not believe they would honor the price after Register Rewards.

in printing Target coupons, everything printed but the amounts. The bar code was on there but no explanation of any sort.

Hi Lori,
Any time this has happened to me, it was b/c I needed new ink in my printer. I’ve never tried to use them, but since it’s a store coupon, you may still be able to use it…if it scans, they *may* accept it (at the discretion of the cashier and/or manager). My only suggestion would be to take them to customer service prior to your shopping trip and ask the Manager/Customer Service Team Leader if you’d be able to use them.

I have a question, if I have a coupon for $1.00 off 3 boxes of GM cereal and a coupon for .75 off 1 box of GM cereal can I use both coupons for that 1 purchase? Thanks.

Hey Ruth!
Just wanted to let you know that my husband and I printed your beginners guide to couponing and have had so many savings so far! We love it! It’s a lot of fun to save money :) Thank you SO much for your website & blog. We wouldn’t have known where to start without you putting all this on your site! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Do you know if it coupon fraud for a store to allow you to use 2 B1G1 free coupons to get both items free?

I have a question about the ECB at CVS. When you have to spend so much money to get the ECB is the money you have to spend before or after you add in the coupons?
For example. You must spend $25 on Charmin, Bounty and Puffs items to get $10 in ECB. Is the $25 you have to spend have the coupons added in to that total? Or does it matter? Just wondering how that works to get the best deal.
Thank You!

The CVS Extra Bucks are based on your PRE-coupon total — one of the main reasons that shopping at CVS (and Walgreens and Rite Aid) can mean mega-savings for couponers! :-)

Hi, I was browsing through your grocery coupon match ups but, I didn’t see any for stores in Wisconsin. If you could I’d really like to see some coupon match ups for Pick N Save (Copps, Rainbow & Metro Market). They’re all owned by the same company. Thank you.

Hi Denise, thank you for your input. We are working to add new stores all the time, so hopefully we can get Pick N Save added in the future. :-)

Ruth,

I’m pretty new to couponing and I think I’ve got the basic concept of it down, or so I think. While at Target, I checked out the price of Bengay and it’s only $4.89. I thought …. Cha-change, I’ll be making a few cents on it when I use my $5 coupons. But when I was checking out, the cashier was changing my $5 coupon to $4.89. The cashier told me it’s “new” way of doing things because it means they’ll be paying me. I kindly told him ‘yes but the manufacturer will pay them back the full amount’ but he just ignored me. So before I call Target about their coupon policy, I thought I’ll ask you first.

It’s coming–the preview ad we use to make our list was a little late this week. It should be posted later today. :-)

Hello,
This is my first week at couponing and I see a cat food coupon in the match-ups that I would like. It says RP the date and an R at the end of it. What does the single R mean? I know RP means Red Plum. I have the 9/18 Red Plum insert, but can’t find this coupon.
Thanks,

Hi, I am very new to couponing and so far my biggest question is expiration dates. what can you do with them after they’re expired?

Reply

Ruth October 2, 2011 at 11:07 am

You can donate them to the military. Here is some more information about that:

Hi Ruth,

I saw a prior question about what to do with expired coupons and you recommened a site where they can be sent to the military. I couldn’t find any info that says they accept expired coupons. Do they?

Also, does publix, WD or Sweetbay accept meijer coupons? I don’t know what meijer is, but they have alot of good coupons!

Hi everyone! Has anybody else had issues with viruses, worms or trojans with all the surfing and linking it takes to get to the coupons? If so what have you done to aleviate it? I have a good virus protection and just upgraded to something new today. Hope it doesn’t happen again. :(

Often when I print online coupons there are unwanted ads and/or information that also prints with my coupon. How do you keep from wasting the ink and paper on unwanted stuff.

Thanks ahead

I love your website and appreciate your tips and help. I am rather new couponer and sometimes I become frustrated with the stores. I work 50 hours a week and do not have time to go to a store 3 or 4 times in one week to get an item because they haven’t stocked it. I have had problems with our local Walgreens. We live in a small town and so the store is small too. Anyway, if you don’t get to the store bright and early on Sunday morning you have to wait until the truck comes in on Thursday. The other couponers say that corporate does not stock the store and they have complained. If an item is on sale they may only have 4 items and that is it. I am just venting. I do save probably 40-50% with couponing but have not done the 75% savings. I struggle with time constraints and wonder if other couponers struggle with this too.

I have a question, does anybody know why in the last four weeks we haven’t been receiving Smart Source or P&G coupons. I live in Lehigh Acres, Florida; I thought it was just one time thing but it’s not. Is anyone else having the same problem.

Hi, as with almost everyone on here, I am new to this. I have a question regarding taxes. I live in Tennessee, and not only do we have a sales tax, but we also have a coupon tax…(a tax for using coupons) does anyone know if kentucky charges you tax for your coupons?

Has anyone gotten any reponses to their questions? I haven’t and I don’t see replies to anyone else either.

I often find coupons not listed on the website, and don’t know where to report them. I have also tried PRINTHOTCOUPONS.COM but don’t get responses there either. So I am unable to share my finds. :(

Hi Dee-
I unfortunately am not always able to respond to every comment that gets posted, though I do try. I do read every comment, though, so if you find a great coupon, you can either leave a comment on the daily post at http://www.savingwellspendingless.com or send me an email at Ruth@PrintHotCoupons.com. Hope that helps!

So I am almost 13 and love to get things free or cheap and save money and barley spend when a store says will double up to $1 does that mean they will double it to $2 or will only make it a $1 at the highest

Btw I watch u on YouTube

Hi Kassidy,

Thanks for reaching out and asking such a great question. Most stores will double everything to a $1 maximum. So if you’ve got a $0.50 coupon, it’ll take $1 off, but if you have a $1 coupon it won’t double to $2. Like I said, that’s at most stores. The best people to ask this question are those at guest services at your local grocery store.
